The University of Siegen is a medium-sized, interdisciplinary research university that is firmly rooted in the region of Southern Westphalia and widely networked both nationally and internationally. The University of Siegen educates almost 18,000 students in a range of subjects from the humanities, social sciences and economics to natural sciences, engineering and life sciences. In research, the University of Siegen focuses on the promotion and expansion of its four internationally visible profile areas<\/a> \u2018Media & Culture\u2019, \u2018Education & Social Society\u2019, \u2018Sensorics & Visual Computing\u2019 and \u2018Matter & Quantum Systems\u2019, supplemented by three competence areas<\/a>. Since its opening in 2001, the Museum f\u00fcr Gegenwartskunst Siegen has operated as an internationally oriented art museum. With its two collections\u2013the Lambrecht-Schadeberg Collection with the winners of the Rubens Prize of the City of Siegen and the Contemporary Art Collection\u2013, its exhibition program, and a wide range of educational offerings the museum offers its visitors fresh perspectives on contemporary art and its history. The MGKSiegen sees itself as an open museum awakening enthusiasm for current art production and also providing innovative impulses in research. As an important cultural beacon in the region of Southern Westphalia, closely linked to the city and the university, the museum is firmly anchored in the region\u2019s cultural life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
